The Interwar years in Europe (1919-1945)
How do we know about what it was like to live in the inter-war years and about changes that affected people's lives during this period in history?
We will analyse and evaluate some of the big changes that shaped the modern world and Australia between the end of the First World War and outbreak of the Second World War in 1939.
The most significant changes include the massive devastation that was faced follwoing World War One, the growing influence of communism and fascism in Europe (we will explore this in next weeks class), the economic crisis of the Great Depression and the establshment of the League of Nations and treaties to help curb the threat of war and hostility.
We have an enormous range of primary sources for these developments that need to be explored for historical inquiry to really blossom and also so that we can better understand/interpret the historical period in question.
